London underworld  underworld became household names in 1996 thanks to the trainspotting anthem ‘born slippy’. the mix of techno, rock and vocals is still the underworld trademark. they are perhaps the only electronic outfit who wouldn’t survive without live gigs. as well as music carl hyde and rick smith also have a second incarnation as graphic designers. they are members of the often imitated design collective tomato.
