every other sunday car fans flock to wimbledon racecourse. stock car racing is old cars short circuit racing. there are different types of vehicles racing throughout the evening such as lightening rods and stock rods. all cars have had their interiors ripped out by mechanics. crowd favourites are the bangers. from 18.00 there are twelve races in four categories of cars. many drivers change their vehicles after every year. from jaguars to fords all old bangers are just about ready for the scrap heap and qualify to race. they have the most crashes and provide the most entertainment and chaos. in the ministox category male and female drivers are aged between eleven and sixteen. wimbledon stadium provides bar and food facilities. spectators can stand close to the action in the pit area or up in the grand stand. the race season runs between august and may.
