skyball is a new freestyle sport from paris. it is a mixture of street-soccer, basketball and street-dance, played with almost every part of the body. former athlete dean ildefonse created the sport in 1999. skyball is aimed at anyone who wants to combine several ball sports without having to conform to the restrictive rules of regular games. skyball requires both skill and creativity. there are different poses within the sport such as head power, where the ball is balanced on the head. for balance practice the ball is rotated on fingertips. any plastic ball can be used for skyball. after training the parisian skyballers can be found in the shop dia. the french street wear label dia offers hip hop and street clothes that are very good for skyballing. the shop opens monday to saturday from 11.00-20.00. in the summer skyballers meet in parc de la vile or at the trocadero opposite the eiffel tower.
