featuring: rough trade sessions

rough trade records is the legendary punk music shop founded in 1976 by jeff travis in notting hill. punk rock and reggae fan jeff wanted to open a shop that sold his favourite music. nowadays apart from punk and reggae rough trade sells obscure music genres such as click house and bastard pop. there is no mainstream pop at rough trade. if you are lucky you might bump into music celebrities like ed from the chemical brothers, sxpress, dj lotti or supermodel kate moss. rough trade shops can also be found in covent garden and tokyo. originally the shop was linked to the rough trade label. bands such as the stiff little fingers were signed to the label but the two are now separate. rota organises live indie sessions in conjunction with rough trade. these take place every saturday afternoon at notting hill arts club. up and coming young guitar bands play at the club between 16.00-20.00. entrance is free. rough trade records is open monday-saturday 09.30-18.30.
