Tokyo melt banana   featuring: shop asahi melt banana combine heavy punk noise with ultra fast beats. nevertheless, yako, agata and rika consider themselves a pop band. their name is a reference to the pop artist andy warhol. their album charlie is released by their own label a-zap. shimokitazawa is an experimental place for the young talents of tokyo’s rock and pop scene. melt banana used to perform in one of the many live music bars. you can find reasonable clothes shops, bars, trash and vintage shops in shimokitazawa. the area is an alternative shopping district for teens and students, who like streetwear. shimokitazawa is located only ten minutes from tokyo’s centre. you can scour the hype area comfortably in one afternoon on foot. melt banana like to rummage for old clothes and crazy trash toys, which are indispensable for real banana punks, at the asahi shop before their performance. asahi is opened daily from 11.00 –20.00.  shop asahi public transport train station shimokitazawa COMMENTS Your voice on melt banana

"Towa really doesn't like interviews - and suggested to do the interview with his robot instead. It was a great idea, so we took his lookalike-robot for a taxi ride to our location. His plastic twin unfortunately doesn't move or speak yet though - but Towa promised he will tackle that challenge in the future too. "

"Cornelius is an amazing guy. And his studio might as well be a museum - full with figures and toys he picks up from Japanese toys stores that make the strangest sounds... and might end up in another track. If you listen carefully,m there are a bunch of unusual sounds on his track that came from toys. "
