timo pritzel from berlin seems to be born on two wheels. since he is six years he spends every spare minute on a bike. in the beginning he was all for bmx-races, until he discovered jumping. at the ‘king of dirt’ contests, the bikers jump risky and artistic over meter-high dirt ramps. in 1998 timo became world champion in this discipline. with 5.10 metres he set the world record in bmx high jump. for training timo goes to berlin’s north. in a secret spot, timo and his dirt mates, built over the years with shovels and excavators over a dozen ramps. the facilities ‘on the trails’ can be used from may until september – but only with permission from the dirt-fanatics. you can get information about the trails at search&destroy shop, berlin’s best skate shop on oranienstrasse.
