the medical museum of berlins well known charité hospital houses dr virchow's strange pickled collection. dr virchow was the founder of modern pathology. for 100 years his collection was used for medical training and public health education. the museum is not for the faint hearted. a healthy breakfast is recommended before a visit. apart from preserved organs, growths and skeletons you will find a number of miscarried children and embryos in preservation glass jars. in modern times many of the diseases on display can be avoided if you visit the doctor in time. however after a visit to the museum you will start to question your own state of health. roughly 1000 exhibition pieces are shown in well lit presentation cases. the museum is open tuesday to sunday from 10.00-17.00.
